Summer ball

The first Imperial College Summer Ball, open to all College staff, students and alumni, will take place on Friday 19 June at Alexandra Palace. Tickets cost £45 for students and £50 for staff and alumni and include transport to and from the event, a three-course dinner, drinks and entertainments. Tickets will be available soon from the IC Union office, Beit Quad.

Exam stress workshops

Wednesday 18 March and Wednesday 25 March

Everyone suffers from stress before and during examinations. For most people stress improves their performance, but if you have a significant or debilitating examination stress problem these free workshops are for you. Day Nursery appeal

The Imperial College Day Nursery is collecting Tesco school computer vouchers and would be grateful for any voucher contributions. Professor Andrew Rutherford

A service of thanksgiving for the life and work of Professor Andrew Rutherford will be held on Monday 11 May at 14.30 in the Church of Christ the King, Gordon Square, WC1. The service will be organised jointly by the University and Goldsmith’s College. All are welcome to attend. Admission is by ticket obtainable from Ms Heidi Foden on 0171-636 8000 ext. 3221.

Professorships

The Leverhulme Trustees have again decided to fund a small number of Leverhulme personal research professorships in the humanities and social sciences. Each chair will normally be held for five years starting 1 October 1999. Applicants must be either academics of UK nationality or must have been regularly employed in the UK for at least seven years. The closing date for applications is Friday 22 May 1998. Further details may be obtained from the Trust by sending a self-addressed A5 envelope stamped for 60g to:-

House exchange

Physicist from San Francisco Bay area will be spending three weeks at the Royal Brompton Hospital (16 August - 4 September 1998) and is looking for a house exchange in central London for a family of five. Offering a four bedroom house in a valley in Marin. A community swimming pool is available for use and a car exchange is offered.
