Summary

Dr Shang Yu is a Research Associate and MSCA Fellow (funded by UKRI) in the Quantum Optics & Laser Science (QOSL) group.

Shang obtained his PhD in Physics from the University of Science and Technology China (USTC) in 2020. Throughout his doctoral studies, he primarily focused on conducting quantum simulation experiments utilizing linear optics. In Feb. 2022, Shang joined Imperial College London, where his research focuses on quantum computation and integrated photonics.

Shang has achieved notable research milestones, including conducting the first experiment to verify the non-additivity of quantum channel capacity, successfully constructing a parity-time symmetry enhanced quantum sensor, and observing the non-Markov property through the analysis of evolution's characteristic spectrum.

Currently, Shang's investigations revolve around Gaussian Boson Sampling (GBS) using integrated photonic chips, as well as promoting GBS for various real-world applications such as molecular docking and vibronic spectroscopy. He has authored/co-authored over 39 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 18, citations 1020, Google Scholar).
