R is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. It compiles and runs on a wide variety of UNIX platforms, Windows and MacOS. R is mainly command driven. It is essentially a programming language designed for statistical analysis and this gives it great flexibility.

The R language allows the user, for instance, to program a series of commands to pre-process and manipulate data and then analyse that data before tailoring, presenting and plotting the results. It allows the user to program “loops” to successively repeat the same analysis on different variables or data sets. R main page image
