Key Information

We are looking for healthy older adults (65+) to take part in a non invasive brain stimulation study. The study involves 3 visits to the Imperial College London White City campus, during which you will be asked to complete a series of cognitive tasks while we stimulate the hippocampus and record brain activity.

For further information and to get involved, please contact Research Assistants Julia Borella (julia.borella21@imperial.ac.uk) or Kaarin Sabad (ksabad@ic.ac.uk).

TIAD 2 study

Summary of the study

We are looking for cognitively healthy older adults (65+)  to take part in a study investigating the use of non-invasive deep brain stimulation.

The purpose of this study is to assess the short-term effects of temporal interference (TI) stimulation on the brain activity and cognitive performance of cognitively healthy older adults.

What does the study involve?

After expressing interest, you will be invited for a telephone pre-screening to determine your eligibility for the study. If successful, you will be enrolled and invited to attend 3 separate study visits at Imperial College London's White City campus.

Study visits

Each of the three study visits will last for around 2 hours, during which you will be asked to complete a series of tasks designed to assess memory performance. Whilst completing the tasks, we will simultaneously record your brain activity via EEG and deliver TI stimulation.

Each study visit will be separated by a week from the previous study visit.

Am I eligible to take part?

You will be able to take part in the study if:

  • You are aged 65-90 years
  • You do not have a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or dementia
  • You have not suffered from traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, strokes or frequent migraines
  • You have not been experiencing difficulties with your memory
  • You are not actively involved in other studies that involve brain stimulation

Will I be reimbursed for taking part?

You will receive a £25 Amazon voucher for each study visit.

How can I get involved?

Please email Research Assistants Julia Borella (julia.borella21@imperial.ac.uk) or Kaarin Sabad (ksabad@ic.ac.uk) to express your interest.
