  • Academic Jobs EU – Useful for searching for academic and research jobs in the EU. You can search by country, category or key word and register for email updates. Once registered, you can also use a salary check search function.
  • AcademicKeys -  US based academic search site which is broken down into 17 discipline-focused areas. It offer comprehensive information about faculty, educational resources, research interests, and professional activities relevant to higher education institutes. 
  • Academic Positions – Career network for academic and research jobs in Northern and Central Europe. You can sign up for a daily job alerts and search for jobs by region and/or role. 
  • Chronicle of Higher Education – US Higher Education job listings. Search by keyword, position or location. There is a related website with HE news and useful advice: see ‘Careers Websites’ for link.
  • Euraxess – Search for research jobs in Europe and upload your CV. There are also links to fellowships and grants and, elsewhere on the website, support for researchers relocating to or within Europe.
  • Find a Postdoc - European website for postdoctoral jobs with links to related websites for other HE opportunities and ‘The Postgraduate Forum’ where you can discuss and seek advice from peers.
  • A guide to Green Careers: Expert-driven guide to career opportunities in renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Higher Ed Jobs – Higher Education job listings for the US. Search by category, location and type of institution. Get job alert emails and upload your CV to be viewed by potential employers.
  • Jobs.ac.uk - Listings for jobs in Higher Education jobs in the UK and beyond. Most UK institutions seem to advertise here so make it your first port of call for a UK higher education job hunt. Search by location or field of expertise. Sign up for daily or weekly job alerts and upload your CV.
  • Nature Jobs – International science and science-related job listings, academic and non-academic. Sign up for newsletter and search by keyword and location.
  • New Scientist Jobs – International science and science-related job listings, academic and non-academic. Sign up for newsletter and search by keyword and location.
  • Times Higher Education – UK listings for Higher Education jobs. Not many advertisements for researcher jobs – the majority tend to be management, lecturers or administrators.

  • An Academic Career – This award winning resource from the University of Manchester contains written and audio-visual advice and information about career paths, job searching and making applications. Guidance has been contributed by academics, careers advisers and researcher developers
  • Chronicle of Higher Education – Advice, news and opinion about careers in US higher education. Great for getting a sense of what the US job market is like, tapping into key issues in HE and reading personal accounts of working in academia. 
  • Elsevier Early Career Resources – Career development resources from the publisher Elsevier. Includes a series of webcasts on topics including publishing, ethics, reviewing and grant writing.
  • Higher Ed Jobs Career Tools – Careers resources, live webinars, and careers news and articles on higher education with an easy ‘browse by category’ function. Includes page for international candidates entering US academic job market with visa information and credential evaluators.
  • Jobs.ac.uk – advice and blog about HE careers, including a section on working overseas. In addition to reading advice articles, you can also download a career planning ebook.
  • Making the Right Moves – US guide to scientific management. Download ‘a collection of practical advice and experiences from seasoned biomedical investigators’ including ‘chapters on laboratory leadership, getting funded, project management, and teaching and course design.’
  • Nature Jobs – career toolkit (information sheets on CVs, presentations, mentoring, salaries and more) news and blog about science careers.
