Get involved

We run a monthly journal club and seminar series focused on Physics Education Research (PER). If you would like to attend - please sign up to our mailing list and you will be sent details of our upcoming meetings.

We are physicists who are passionate about education!

The Physics Education Group is composed of Teaching Fellows, Academic Staff, Postdoctoral Researchers, PhD students, and Administrators who work on running and continuously improving, through education-based research, the undergraduate degree programme within the Department of Physics.

In its broadest sense, Physics Education Research (PER) means taking a scientific, observational approach to inspecting what we do, and how we do these things on the physics degree, and then using these observations to improve practice as we move forward. In the Department of Physics, PER has been able to blossom and thrive in the last few years as we have initiated two major projects in the department (see below), run several smaller projects, often with undergraduate student involvement, and we have brought in people dedicated to PER. This is revolutionising what we do in the department!
